SELF STUDY

  • Grammar is important, but it’s not a priority for beginners.  Learning a language as beginner means make mistakes, but it is important to try and not discouraging. Take it easy, as a comfortable grammar!  You don’t have to know it all, because the grammar skills will never end.

      GRAMMAR - READING "The action 'piacere'".

      The construction of the syntax with this verb is very different from English.
      We dont have a subject as "io", "tu", "lui o lei". 

      mi piace   / non mi piace

      ti piace                            /                        non ti piace

      gli piace (a lui)               /                        non gli piace (a lui)

      le piace                           /                       non le piace (a lei)

      You can use this construction:
      - with a verb:
      MI PIACE FARE SPORT. (mi piace + an infinitive verb)
      - with an object:
      TI PIACE LA MUSICA. (mi piace + an object)

      When we use only an object, the verb is singular:  MI PIACE la MUSICA.
      If the object is plural, also the verb is plural MI PIACCIONO gli SPAGHETTI.
      "Io" is never used before "mi piace / "mi piacciono". It is the same for "tu" e "ti piace / ti piacciono".
      Unlike all other verbs, in which it is not used but can be said, with "piacere" the person can never be said.
