Please be officially advised that you can inform me of your absence ONLY when you can verify it with legitimate reasons in official terms.
Recently I receive many emails saying as follows:
(1) I have to work ...
(2) My work schedule changed ...
(3) I have a meeting with another professor ...
(4) I have to travel ... ' so forth.
Based on common sense, to me, it is really pointless to know the aforementioned lines of reasoning since we are officially in the academic semester and, moreover, since we already know exactly when my lecture takes place throughout this entire semester.
Therefore, please feel free to contact me when you are unfortunately absent due to legitimate reasons. Then I will write it down officially. Please note that, otherwise, there is no need to inform me at all.
