Dear Students,

Thank you to everyone who participated in today’s class and contributed to our ongoing reflection on oppression, epistemic violence, subalternity,...and related topics through discussions on Kabe Wilson’s Of One Woman or So and the Dreadnought hoax.

I have uploaded the materials we covered during the class, including excerpts, videos, recordings and suggested additional readings for those interested in exploring the topic further.

Reading Assignment for Next Week's Class (Lesson #5 - Tuesday):

A. Introduction (pp. 1–19) of Homi K. Bhabha’s The Location of Culture (London: Routledge, 1994). A free-access version of the book is available as a hyperlink in Lesson #5.

B. The complete reading of Amitav Ghosh’s The Nutmeg's Curse: Parables for a Planet in Crisis (2021), which I asked you to begin during our first lesson.

It is particularly important that you come to class having completed the reading of Ghosh’s text. Please bring your copy with annotations, personal notes, bookmarks, and highlights, especially regarding the aspects that interested you most, so we can engage in a productive discussion.

As always, I am available for any questions or clarifications. I encourage you to share your doubts/questions/concerns with the entire group via the course forum.

Looking forward to seeing you all on Tuesday!

We’re making great progress on an exciting journey—thank you for your perspectives and insights!

Best regards,

SR
