International Business & Trade
Dear all,
Thank you very much for your great engagement with today’s class discussions. As mentioned very explicitly, I would like you to read the following two article for next Monday (24.03.2025).
Gill, C. (2012). “The Role of Leadership in Successful International Mergers & Acquisitions: Why Renault‐Nissan Succeeded & DaimlerChrysler‐Mitsubishi Failed”, Human Resource Management, 51(3), 433-456.
Nayak (2019). “Bharti Airtel Acquires Resources & Companies”.
Additionally, please choose one unsuccessful cross-border M&A case & be ready to share the logic behind its failure in an organized manner within 2 minutes at a maximum (one-page slide if necessary). If you wish to take the lead on this exercise, please let me know right away. I am currently interested in recruiting for 5 students at a maximum as volunteers (Those who have not yet done this exercise will be highly prioritized). Of course, I will allocate extra credits. This is on a first-come & first-served basis in principle. Moreover, if you are chosen to do so, please put a lot of effort in improving the quality of your pitch with special emphasis on content, speed of delivery, & phonetics.
I would like you to read through following article if you have time (not mandatory).
Dikova, D., Panibratov, A., & Veselova, A. (2019). “Investment Motives, Ownership Advantages and Institutional Distance: An Examination of Russian Cross-Border Acquisitions”, International Business Review, 28(4), 625-637.
Once again, I am very grateful to you for participating proactively in my course.
I wish you a wonderful evening & we will see each other next Monday.
Best regards,
Norifumi Kawai
