Evaluating online sources: the CRAAP test

Currency means the timeliness of the information.

So check:

1. When was this information published or posted?
   
   
2. Was it updated?
   If a website hasn't been updated for a long time, the information could be obsolete. Anyway, an outdated site is suspicious, be careful in using the information.
   
   
3. Does my subject need only current information? 
   Different disciplines have different needs. For a geologist, a 19th century geological map can be still reliable, for a biologist an information of two years ago can be obsolete. 
   So adapt your idea of currency to your research field.
   
   
4. Are the links working?
   If there are outdated links, this means the site is no more updated and the information can be obsolete.
