Citation managers: which one is best?
To assist you in making this choice, here are some comparison tables:
- Wikipedia offers one in the article Comparison of reference management software.
- Another comparison was created by the Northwestern University (Illinois) library .
- A third one was created by the Library for the Research Institutes (CH).
The choice also depends on the databases you are most familiar with for your research.
EndNote is distributed by the publisher Clarivate, that distributes also Web of Science, therefore there's much compatibility with this database.
Mendeley is distributed by the publisher Elsevier, that distributes also Scopus, therefore there's much compatibility with this database (Mendeley has little compatibility with Pubmed).
Zotero is totally independent and works the same with all databases, but offers less storage space.
